Coaching skills for managers
One day course
To provide the participants with a practical framework for understanding their role as a coach and develop the skills necessary to be flexible and effective.
The managers will explore their own personal style using various tools and self assessment questionnaires. As a result, they will realise the impacts of their preferences, exploring their behaviours and development areas to help them to develop effective coaching skills. Through practical and engaging exercises the group will be given the opportunity to practice some of the styles and approaches, some of which may not be their immediate preferences.
Participants will learn how to monitor performance, evaluate, give feedback and ask meaningful questions that drive outstanding performance. Additionally, the group will be introduced to the G.R.O.W coaching model (Goal, Reality, Options, Way forward), a framework which will allow them to ask the right questions at the right times.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
Understand their role as a coach within the role of a manager or leader
Evaluate their individual style preference
Establish learning needs with the coachee
Understand and apply the G.R.O.W coaching model
Use the coachee’s experience and knowledge to establish performance enhancing activities
Position coaching alongside leading people development theories
Develop strategies for improving their own style flexibility
Apply effective listening skills essential to the coaching process
Use questioning techniques to raise awareness of performance issues
Use coaching and feedback in tandem for maximum effect

We aim to have no more than eight participants on our management training open courses, allowing us to work through live scenarios with each individual making the experience as personal and tailored as we possible can.
We’re well aware how challenging it can be to implement new skills and techniques, so we offer ongoing (telephone and email) post course support by the trainer to anybody that attends one of our courses.
